Accessibility Statement
Digital Moose is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard.
Our Commitment
We believe that the web should be accessible to everyone. Digital Moose Web Solutions is committed to making our website usable by the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.
We actively work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
This statement applies to the website at digitalmoose.ca and was last reviewed in April 2026.
Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Known issues are listed below. We are actively working toward full conformance.
Accessibility Features Implemented
Semantic HTML
All pages use proper semantic HTML5 elements including <main>, <header>, <footer>, <nav>, <article>, <section>, and <aside> to communicate page structure to assistive technologies.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, accordion controls — are fully operable via keyboard. Focus indicators are visible and meet minimum contrast requirements.
Screen Reader Compatibility
ARIA labels, roles, and properties are applied throughout the site. Screen-reader-only text (sr-only class) provides context for icon-only elements. Dynamic content updates use live regions where appropriate.
Color Contrast
Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA color contrast ratios: 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components. We use our design token system to enforce consistent contrast across all pages.
Responsive and Mobile-Friendly
All pages are fully responsive and functional at any viewport size from 320px wide. Touch targets meet minimum 44×44px sizing guidelines. No content requires horizontal scrolling.
Alternative Text for Images
All informative images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes (alt="") to be ignored by screen readers.
Form Accessibility
All form inputs are associated with visible labels. Required fields are clearly indicated. Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with their fields.
Structured Data and SEO
JSON-LD structured data is implemented on all pages to help both search engines and AI systems understand page content and structure.
Reduced Motion Support
All CSS animations and transitions are disabled for users who have enabled the "prefers-reduced-motion" operating system setting.
Font Rendering
Web fonts use font-display: swap to prevent invisible text during font loading. Base font size is 16px. Line height is set to 1.5–1.6 for readability.
Skip Navigation
A skip-to-main-content link is available for keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation on every page.
Language Declaration
The HTML lang attribute is set to "en-CA" on all pages to enable correct pronunciation by screen reader software.
Known Accessibility Issues
We are aware of the following known issues and are actively working to resolve them:
- Some third-party embedded content (maps, widgets) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are working to identify accessible alternatives.
- PDF documents linked from the site may not all be fully accessible. We are reviewing and updating these files on an ongoing basis.
- Some legacy blog content published before our accessibility audit may have images without adequate alt text. We are systematically updating these.
